A Peridot lava bomb is a naturally occurring volcanic rock that contains Peridot (gem-quality Olivine) crystals embedded in solidified basalt lava. These "xenoliths" are formed when deep-earth Peridot (up to 25km deep), is brought to the surface by magma and ejected from a volcano during an eruption, cooling rapidly as a molten mass or "bomb".
