Axinite is a rare calcium aluminium boro-silicate which has optical pleochroism properties as shown in our video/photos. The term Axinite comes from the ax-head shape which is typical of these crystals.
Pleochroism is a colour-change when exposed to LED lighting - this batch of Axinite displays cream, brown, orange, yellow, amber, plum, red, and violet colours.
Specimen measures approx. 2.7cm x 2cm x 1.6cm. A rare and unique miniature thumbnail specimen for any fine mineral collector.
