A polished small palmstone of Hackmanite. A rare stone which is UV reactive and has a unique reaction known as 'Tenebrescence'.
Tenebrescence (also known as reversible photochromism) is the rare ability of certain minerals to change color when exposed to light (such as UV rays or sunlight), and then slowly revert to their original color in the dark.
This reaction has been captured on camera. The first 2 photos of the darker purple are after being exposed to UV light. The next 2 photos are under a UV light, showing longwave and shortwave UV reactions. The final 3 photos are the 'bleached' lighter purple after reverting back to the stone's original base colour.
